I have a Briggs 18,000 watt home generator (model 40266) with a Vanguard #613275 engine. This unit is labeled as Natural Gas only. Is there a kit available to enable running on propane (LPG) also? Ideally, I would like to be able to use NG as the primary fuel but be able to switch over to LPG in the event of a service interruption.

Hi,

We do not carry a kit for this unit. However, you might try to contact the manufacturer and see if they have anything to change it over.

It's been over a year since I originally asked the above question. Rechecking to see if there is a kit available now. B&S is not very responsive to my request. They always bump my request back to my dealer and they send me back to the B&S people. Still no answer so I'm back to you.

Is there any way you can get me a couple of pictures of the inside of the unit. Mainly I would like to see what regulator is in it and how the carburetor is setup. I will see if i can find a kit that might fit it. We also might need the model number for the engine.

Thank You

Hi,
I just found your response. Revisiting the situation:

5 years ago, I purchased  a Briggs Home generator System, model 040266, which runs on natural gas only. It serves my needs well; no problems at all. My engine is a Briggs 993CC, model # 613275. It is for natural gas only. I would like to convert it to run on both propane or natural gas. I contacted Briggs directly and they weren't helpful at all.

Is there any kit or individually available parts that would allow this conversion?

It's dark out now so tomorrow, I will get the photos that you requested and add them to this thread.
Sorry I didn't see your reply earlier.

Thanks,
Rich

Hi Again,
As I mentioned in my last reply of last week, i had just found your reply of 09/08/2015 and I am still searching for a propane/natural gas conversion for my nat gas only unit. It's a B&H home generator, model 040266, serial 1017477343,    with a B&S engine 993cc, model 613275 engine. Here a few pictures of the regulator and as close as I could get to the carb.

Hope this is what you need. If you need more, just ask.

Thanks,

Is this still an active thread? I've sent two replies and yet no answer. Should I start all over?

Thanks,
